I recently reported on the new VisionFit system (from Adaptica, Italy – see Figure 1) last year. The design of the system, with three integral lens systems capable of a wide range of corrections (Figure 2), was most impressive. Within the headset unit is a clever array of three controllable focusing components.
First of all, there is a liquid lens capable of rapid deformation to achieve anything between +10.00DS to -10.00DS in steps that may be predetermined on set up. Supplementary lenses may be used to extend this sphere range.
Second is a combination of two rotating adjacent lenses (Alvarez-like) that can simulate a range of cylinder powers up to -10.00DC.
