Key Note's report into the optical market suggests the future for independents lies in high service levels as the bigger boys slug it out on price

Few sectors can be in such rude health as the optical services and goods market, if the report from by Key Note (News 17.09.10) is anything to go by, but those wanting a slice of that market are going to have to work for it.

Eye test

According to Ophthalmic Goods & Services, the market for optical goods grew by 11.2 per cent from 2006 until 2009 to stand at £2.93bn and this is likely to grow to £3.33bn by 2014. As well as pointing to increased competition on the high street, the report also threw up some interesting nuggets.
