'Better three hours too soon than a minute too late’. Those were the wise words delivered through the pen of a famous fellow Englishman centuries ago. In the crucial pre-reg period, perhaps we can learn from the sentiment of this advice. Time during this period should be carefully planned to ensure a realistic gradual learning curve.
Within the current cycle, most trainees shall only be a month or two into the period and have another nine months or so to look forward to. This certainly doesn’t mean thumbs should be twiddled until assessments arrive. Instead, pre-regs should adopt a proactive approach to getting the required experience, and this starts from day one.
