Retro with a modern twist has become the mantra of many frame manufacturers but Safilo let Dior do the talking at its autumn/winter showcase in London late last month.

The brand stole the show with a massive burnished gold Jackie O limited edition Dior sunglass taking centre stage. The opulence of the piece was a statement of Dior's intent to reclaim its position among brands. Changes in the way Dior is distributed, an authorised dealer approach, have lent a new exclusivity to the marque. Safilo hopes this will also lead to a greater understanding of the brand and a higher profile for the products in practice.
