Simon Jones travels to New York to see how International Vision Expo East is changing to in reaction to an evolving market and delegate feedback

Organisers of International Vision Expo East, Reed Exhibitions and the Vision Council, say this year’s event focused on a completely new theme – visionaries in education, fashion and technology.

Two years of research and planning went into developing the new concept. Feedback from buyers and exhibitors pointed towards the desire for a more convenient solution to visiting the Galleria and Underground eyewear pavilions – traditionally located in the Javits North Hall at the far end of the building. This meant that many of the independent eyewear brands were a long walk away from the major international frame companies that resided in the main hall. Organisers responded by moving the halls to level three of the Javits, placing fashionable and innovative eyewear very much in the forefront of delegates’ thinking.
