Rodenstock has always been about quality and bringing some positive continental attitudes towards eyewear into the UK independent sector. Jensen took up the role of managing director at Rodenstock last May following a career in optics. The Dane originally qualified as an optometrist ‘too many years ago’ but opted to work in Canada and a couple of year practising in the Bahamas: ‘ just to get a flavour of whether or not this is what I really want to do.’
‘Optometry is an interesting profession,’ he says, ‘but I thought there are also other interesting things that I might like to do so I have spent the rest of my business life on this side of the business fence if I can put it that way.’ He spent four years with Rodenstock Canada and ran Rodenstock in Scandinavia for the 10 years before coming to the UK.
