Optician Index September 2015: Focus on turnover

When we compare the third quarter results for this year with those of 2014, we see that more eye examinations have been carried out and the volume of spectacles dispensed and total turnover are marginally higher

At the end of this third quarter we are reviewing how the key performance indicators compare with last month and last September, alongside how the year has progressed against 2014 and 2013.

The positive signs we saw last month have not been maintained, with all of our performance indicators showing falls from those reported in August, with the exception of bi/tri-focal lenses. When we compare the third quarter results for this year with those of 2014, we see that more eye examinations have been carried out and both the volume of spectacles dispensed and total turnover are marginally higher.

On the negative side, the results comparing the same quarter last year are lower for new contact lens fits, the value of solutions sold and turnover per eye examination.
