This year's Optrafair will represent an unprecendented coming together of the optical industry and profession with satellite events staged around the biennial exhibition.
Speaking just weeks ahead of the show at the National Exhibition Centre (April 13-15) Malcolm Polley, chief executive of the Federation of Manufacturing Opticians, said Optrafair was truly becoming a rallying cry for other events.
'Optrafair is the biggest opportunity for people to go along and see the very latest in eyewear, technology instrumentation and lenses,' he said, but it was much more besides.
Optrafair was a gathering for the whole of optics the like of which we have never seen before, added Polley. All of the optical bodies, including the GOC, would be there and available for questioning. Visitors can put to them directly any concerns about the way optics is being run or any ideas they have for improving things.
