The deportment of politicians may seem a strange place for eye care practitioners to look for insights into effective communication, but they are there. Not necessarily by copying the politicians, but rather avoiding the common mistakes that they often make.

Rarely will we witness a politician willing to publicly admit concerns over his policies. And seldom, if ever, will such proposals be announced with an air of uncertainty and anxiety either. No. When it comes to politicians, the firm belief appears to be that any communication should be presented positively, highlighting the strengths and advantages and at the same time attempting to bury any potential downsides or anxieties.
