A little can go a long way

Presumably it was a little person who first said that good things come in small packages. While we are uncertain who it was that originally coined the phrase, one thing we can be certain about is that when it came to communication they certainly understood the power of generating big changes by starting small.

In certain situations and environments - and optometry and ophthalmology are good examples - people can find it difficult to comply with advice and requests made by others. This can be true even when, in the case of advice from their eye care professional, the patient knows in their heart of hearts that it would be in their best interests to do so. One potential reason for this is that changing behaviours and habits can be hard work.
