To confirm common understanding in a practice it would be sensible to have standard operating procedures that set out the practices policies with regard to supervision and the role of the supervisor and supervisee. 

 

What would you do if there is no registrant there and the patient comes into the practice to collect the spectacles?  To avoid this in the first place, it may be appropriate to make appointment collections for children under 16.  However you should politely explain that you are unable to dispense the spectacles as they need to be fitted and confirmed to be correct by an optometrist or dispensing optician.
