Summer's almost here and all benchmarks rise compared to MarchJust for a change, April's results bring good news for most benchmarks, with increases in all but bifocal lenses from last year's results, and all benchmarks improving over March. Generally, the annual average is still negative, but it's still a boon to have favourable results this month.
Spring often shows the highest results and this year is no exception. The number of eye examinations is at its highest point since April 2004. Likewise, the volume of reflection-free coats is at its highest point since May two years ago. The last time new contact lens fits had a higher result was in May 1999, and the previous high point for solutions was May last year. Turnover is showing its highest result ever, the closest point was an Index of 173 in August 2003.
