Student DO given warning

A student dispensing optician alleged to have forged her supervisor’s signature during pre-qualification training has been given a 12-month warning by the General Optical Council’s fitness to practise committee

A student dispensing optician alleged to have forged her supervisor’s signature during pre-qualification training has been given a 12-month warning by the General Optical Council’s fitness to practise committee.

Sakina Najfi was alleged to have forged signatures on timesheets and final declaration forms between September and October 2011 while working at Vision Express in Croydon. The committee heard that Najfi’s supervisor left his position in September 2011 and she forged his signature to give the impression that there was still supervision in place.

The committee said it had taken into account the registrant’s admission of guilt, along with her remorse and insight into her accounts. It added that the registrant had made several requests to her employer for a replacement supervisor, but no action was taken.
