The Goods: Autumn trends

Sunglasses Frames
Despite UK temperatures finally heating up again at the start of September, there’s no denying that the new season is almost upon us, and we will be calling on those autumn trends before we know it. From super-chic staples to immune support, we’ve got you covered for when those chillier months finally hit.

Quiet Luxury: Ahlem

Quiet luxury, sometimes known as stealth wealth, is a sartorial movement that’s gaining pace. Its a quiet protest against flamboyant displays of wealth or logos. Ahlem, the Los Angeles founded brand by designer Ahlem Manai-Platt are masters of just this. Their ‘New York’ design is a beautiful bridgeless structure that exudes a contemporary elegance.

Handcrafted in France and electroplated in palladium and 22k fine gold with filigreed titanium nose pads, this is the epitome of an elevated classic.

Back To School: Mango

The catwalks have been jam-packed with back-to-school fashion - namely shirts, ties, and the inevitable autumn/winter classic, the blazer.

Black coats, in all their guises, made their presence felt, and were styled alongside classic white shirts worn in ever ingenious ways. This double-breasted number by Mango has corporate cool wrapped up to perfection. Its slightly longer length gives it wonderful adaptability, wear it over everything from dresses, shirts or even a hoodie for that slight edge.

Bags of thought: Fenella Smith

It is nearly time to pack away the baskets and beach bags and invest in something a little more substantial for the winter months.

Big enough to host the inevitable raincoat, umbrella and lunchbox, but small enough that you don’t dislocate your shoulder. This vegan leather tote by British brand Fenella Smith is spot on.

A timeless shape and the perfect size, you can even buy a matching phone bag, that I think would work as an excellent sunglass case. The brand celebrates colourful self-expression and is environmentally conscious, what’s not to love?

Red Alert: Port Tanger

While Barbie pink is still having a moment, there’s no doubt among the fashion pack, that the new on-trend hue for autumn is red.

This frame, ‘Mauretania’ by the brand Port Tanger, is inspired by the ancient region of Maghreb. Handmade in Japan and crafted with care and precision, this majestic, curved structure perfectly complements the natural contours of the face, celebrating the features of each individual, regardless of gender.

The cultural references to design and colour are hugely present in the collection, in particular this incense red acetate with Dahab tinted lenses. Red is such a primal and exciting colour to wear, so buckle up for the wave of crimson that’s coming this autumn/winter.

Immune Support: Sweet Bee Organics

As the weather turns, so too can our health. With back-to-school bugs and coughs and colds doing the rounds, it’s important to try to keep them at bay, the organic way.

Sweet Bee Organics is passionate about sourcing the finest organic ingredients from Mother Nature to create a product that allows your body to heal, without the use of nasty chemicals.

The Winter Wellness Elderberry Elixir is a powerhouse. Elderberry is packed with immune supporting, anti-viral, anti-bacterial, vitamin and antioxidant rich properties that help fight colds and flu and boost your immune system. Combined with equally magic ingredients, such as honey, turmeric, ginger, rosemary and cinnamon, it’s a bug-buster.
