The Goods: To dream of spring

Frames Sunglasses
We can begin to flirt with the idea of spring with this edition of the Goods

A perfect fit

If you prefer to wear something a little more understated on your face, a dynamic frame chain is a simple and highly effective way to lift an outfit. With such a huge array of chains on the market, from fine metals, beaded delights, and chunky acetates and many of them incredibly affordable, it is great to have a few options in your armoury. Switch them on and off to pick up colours or detailing in your outfit, creating a chic look in seconds. With Valentine’s Day on the horizon, this beauty from Anwulie Eyewear (an eyewear brand designed specifically for African facial features) is lovely and timely.

Timeless design

These incredible sunglasses are the conception of Roberta Baines, manager of Tavat Eyewear, and Francesco Nicoletti, owner of the concept store Smalti e Colori. It is a glorious collaboration between two creatives that has resulted in an assertive, progressive, and exciting collection named Punkouture. The SM05 model has that ability to appear inexorably slick and modern with a touch of punk, yet retains the elegant lines and weight of a classic retro silhouette. I will take one in each colour.

Seasonal dressing

This dress has spring written all over it. Elegant tiers of fabric in this incredible wash of corn flower blue and lilac, detailed with delicate flowers. The dramatic sheer bell sleeves are hugely on trend, while sheer fabrics are having a moment on the runways. But it is wonderfully versatile, a frock for all occasions; dressed up with heels and fine jewellery or worn with a leather biker jacket and trainers to keep it casual. This would also look beautiful with heavy knits layered on top and finished with a pair of tobacco-tinted sunglasses.

Denim for all

Shopping for jeans can be a minefield. There are endless fits at varying price points, but finding the perfect pair is a priceless attribute to your wardrobe. Nudie Jeans makes excellent jeans, which are all made with 100% organic cotton. Importantly, they have several fits that work for both men and women, in particular the Tuff Tony fit, which is incredibly versatile and works brilliantly on everyone. The Japanese selvage denim fit is based off a pair of 1950s jeans and after regular wear creates a beautiful salt and pepper texture. Great fitting denim is a must-have that allows the wearer to create look after look.

Artistry and innovation

Barton Perreira is a much-revered luxury designer eyewear brand, celebrated for its artistry and innovation, and its collection for 2023 stands true to its ambitions. Its sun collection will feature bold thick acetate silhouettes in vibrant, pastel hues and titanium styles with enamel colour detailing.

While its optical collection sees a return to re-invented classics, playful shapes that are elevated with acetate and metal detailing. Elvgren is a perfect example, understated and professional, yet flirtatious and feminine.

Glossy geometry

As with eyewear, interiors are following a similar path of campaigning for quite opposing trends for 2023. There is a clear fork in the road, with one path leading to colour, weight and bold textures while the other heads in the direction of neutrals, metals and minimalism. Fortunately, for your home, the combination of both makes for a highly stylish and decadent abode. Brave colour, natural stone surfaces, mixed metal finishes, statement lighting, and 60s and 70s influences all add to the look, and this geometric high gloss lacquered coffee table by Ferm Living embodies a contemporary design with an evocative expression.
