2008 saw marked growth in the number of refractive surgery clinics in the UK, the largest increase since our surveys began. But when last year's survey was published, the economic downturn and recession that followed had already begun to take effect. Almost all clinics said the economy was likely to have the most significant influence on the market in the year to come.
