2010 marks the 10th annual Optician survey of refractive surgery clinics in the UK and Ireland. This year provides an opportunity to reflect on trends in refractive surgery not just over 12 months but over the past 10 years.
Mailed out this week, the survey includes questions on the type of clinics and premises in which they are located, treatments provided and charges. Last year's survey identified a total of 138 clinics in the UK, a three-fold increase on 2001, and 23 sites in Ireland.
The survey is again being conducted jointly with the British Society for Refractive Surgery and is supported by the Eye Laser Association. The deadline for returning responses is October 15 and the results will be published in November along with a directory of clinics.
