The Institute of Optometry's refurbishment of its John Francis Teaching Clinic, known to many practitioners simply as 'Room 3', received its largest donation from the Central LOC Fund. The £12,500 donation followed an appeal for funds from secretary of state for trade and industry Patricia Hewitt and the 16 open-plan cubicles around a central pre-screening room have been replaced with nine teaching cubicles. The clinic was officially opened yesterday (November 13) by Simon Hughes MP. Our picture shows the LOC donation which took place earlier this month with chairman of the central fund Michael Shinn handing the cheque to Sir Patrick Cable-Alexander, the Institute's co-director, surrounded by Institute and LOC representatives.
