3D eye tests considered

Sight tests may have to be expanded to include new tests with the wider use of 3D cinema and TV.

A round table event recently hosted by Optician and sponsored by Essilor (Optician 12.08.11) discussed a range of topics surrounding 3D technology.

Professor David Thomson of City University and Thomson Software Solutions pointed out the risks associated with 3D technology were very low, but to pick up the few people who may have problems with the technology a test might be needed.

Boots Opticians professional services officer Gordon Carson highlighted the need for clinical responsibility and lamented the lack of an evidence base on which to reference advice to the public.
