AAO awards UK diplomates and fellows in San Francisco

A total of 189 new fellows and six diplomates were inducted at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Optometry (AAO) in San Francisco, held in December. Five UK optometrists received awards at the ceremony. Pictured (l-r; rear) are: Nigel Oldbury, Keith Edwards and Professor Nathan Efron, who was granted diplomate status in the Cornea and Contact Lens section. Front row (l-r) are: Rena Souten, Professor Anthony Cullen (past-president of the AAO), and Dr Sudi Patel. In addition, Dr Lyndon Jones, an optician editorial adviser who is now based in Canada, achieved diplomate status in the Cornea and Contact Lens section.
