This week sees the 88th annual conference of the American Academy of Optometry taking place in San Francisco.

This week sees the 88th annual conference of the American Academy of Optometry taking place in San Francisco.

The event runs over four days and attracts optometrists and eye care practitioners from around the world. There are at least 12 strands of lectures, multiple workshops and seminars and an array of special events all running concurrent with a major exhibition of ophthalmic equipment and products.

Delegates will be able to hear the very latest from renowned speakers including Milton Hom, Jeffrey Walline, Eli Peli, Jonathon Jackson and Ian Bailey. Among the various prize winners receiving acclaim at this year's event, Professor Nathan Efron is to be honoured for his work in contact lenses. There will be updates on the latest research in surgical correction of presbyopia, vision in aviation, glaucoma therapy and a section on 'how not to get sued'.
