Abbott sees sales rise

Pharmaceutical company Abbott's worldwide operational sales increased 10.5 per cent in the second quarter of 2009 over the second quarter in 2008, while its comparative medical product sales increased 27 per cent.

Pharmaceutical company Abbott's worldwide operational sales increased 10.5 per cent in the second quarter of 2009 over the second quarter in 2008, while its comparative medical product sales increased 27 per cent.

The company's total sales for the quarter came to $7.495bn, while the global sales of the company's optical products segment, Abbott Medical Optics, amounted to $265m for the quarter.

Comparative sales to 2008 are not available as Abbott only purchased the former Advanced Medical Optics in January 2009 (see News 15.01.09).
