The Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) has achieved the Youth Friendly Employer mark, which is awarded to businesses that are invested in recruiting and supporting young people.
CEO of Youth Employment UK, Laura-Jane Rawlings presented ABDO with a certificate at its annual meeting where they also discussed the benefits of the certification.
Rawlings said that she is 'delighted' to be working with ABDO to educate and engage with young people in the profession to make them aware of career opportunities.
Nick Walsh, sector skills development officer at ABDO, added: ‘Within the world of optics there are so many career options open that people may not be aware of, so working with Youth Employment UK with their amazing reach, including over one million visitors to their website in 2019 by students and parents, will help to make eye care a new consideration for those who may not have previously thought of this.’
