ABDO awards honorary fellowship

Julian Wiles was awarded an honorary fellowship from the Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) for his contribution to the dispensing profession over many years. ABDO president Daryl Newsome presented the award to Wiles at the recent IOT Independent Thinking event at the ABDO National Resource Centre in Birmingham on November 1.

Wiles, founder of Performance Lenses and country manager of Younger Optics, was commended for bringing the latest lens technology to market, supporting the Association through his role on the Optical Suppliers Association board, and helping to set up Case Record 51 for the ABDO Pre-Qualification Period Portfolio.

He was also recognised for his contribution to providing invaluable CET and CPD to ABDO members, his collaboration with the Association on sustainability issues, support of the International Opticians Association, and his ‘many years of unwavering commitment to the dispensing profession’.
