ABDO president responds to Godmersham concerns

ABDO president James Russell has issued the following statement in response to concerns raised (Optician News Dec 16) about the funding of Godmersham.

STATEMENT BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE ABDO – 18TH JANUARY 2005

The Board of Directors of the ABDO had a regularly scheduled meeting today and were made aware of the comments concerning the ABDO College which have been made by a few anonymous individuals.

The Board was unanimous in declaring that it will not respond to comments made by people who are not prepared to identify themselves.

Members of the Association have ample opportunity for expressing their views or raise any concerns either through the Area network or by direct access to the General Secretary.  The Board therefore wishes to make clear that if the anonymous writers are prepared to identify themselves to the General Secretary (and provided they are members of the Association) he will arrange for them to have an opportunity to discuss their concerns in person.
