Proposed changes to the Association of British Dispensing Opticians' memorandum and articles of association could pave the way for a new title for the organisation.
ABDO announced this week it wanted to 'completely update' the legal documents to meet future needs, and would hold a vote next year.
'One of the main outcomes of the new memorandum and articles of association, when officially introduced, will, subject to members' approval, be the adoption of a new title for the Association, which will more accurately reflect the skills, as well as existing and proposed activities, of its members,' said ABDO general secretary Sir Tony Garrett.
