The Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) was adversely affected by a cyber incident on Monday, July 10, that encrypted the data on one of the organisations’ servers.
While the incident is still under investigation, there were early indications that some data has been removed from the server, which may include some of the personal data that ABDO holds about individual members.
ABDO noted there is currently no evidence to suggest any data has been used for malicious purposes but recommended that, until investigations are completed, members take precautions and are wary of suspicious communications or financial activity.
The organisation will be contacting anyone impacted as a result of this incident, once investigations are completed.
