The Association of British Dispensing Opticians has reacted strongly to the Government's review of NHS ophthalmic services and announcement of a new commissioning toolkit at a specially convened board meeting held this week in response.
Reacting to health minister Rosie Winterton's York announcement last week (News January 19), ABDO president Kevin Milsom said that he was deeply disappointment that the Department of Health had once again failed to address the issue of CET funding for dispensing opticians and that it had done nothing to include DOs in listings at primary care trust level.
'After years of lobbying and pressure from many quarters the question of CET funding for DOs is not even mentioned. This will cause huge anger among our members.
