CIBA Vision has recalled Solocare Aqua solution sold in selected shops in France from August 25-27 after animal rights activists cited possible sabotage on a blog on the website of the US Animal Liberation Front last week.

The Animal Rights Militia claimed it had contaminated bottles of the solution, which is not sold in the UK, along with 250 Savlon antiseptic products, as part of its campaign against a research lab, reported to be Huntington Life Sciences.

CIBA said: 'While there have been no confirmed reports of tampering and no evidence to support these threats, as a precautionary measure, CIBA Vision France is replacing bottles of Solocare Aqua that are accessible to the public in the mentioned stores in France.'
