Chartered accountancy firm AEL has become the latest sponsor for the 2013 Optician Awards which opened for entries earlier this month.
AEL, well-known as an accountant and tax expert for the retail optical business, was tempted in by a newly created category for 2013. The Business Excellence Award was developed to highlight best practice in optical business management. This includes maximising profitability through all aspects of the practice plus managing tax, property and accounting in the most effective way. The category also allows entrants to highlight particular business initiatives undertaken by the practice during the year under review.
The first of a series of articles outlining the categories available for entry in the 2013 Optician Awards was published last week (23.11.12). Over the coming weeks more features will follow on all of the categories up for grabs.

The deadline for entries in January 18 with judging taking place shortly after. The Awards presentation will be made on Saturday April 13 at the Hilton metropole next to the National Exhibition Centre during the Optrafair weekend.
