As part of closer working between the optical bodies, the Association of Optometrists (AOP) and the Federation of Dispensing and Ophthalmic Opticians (FODO) will hold their annual general meetings this year on the same day and at the same location.

To be held on May 12 at Whitehall Place in London, the AGMs will be followed by an Eye Health Dinner to be attended by members of the councils of both organisations and their guests.

David Hewlett, FODO chief executive, said: 'The FODO and AOP AGMs have traditionally taken place in May within a few days of one another and many members, as well as our optical partners, attend both events. This year by combining our resources, we are able to have a bigger and better event, with knock-on benefits for the whole of the optical sector.'
