Medical coatings business Ai2, a Manchester University spin-out, has secured its first major commercial deal, having signed a joint developing and licensing agreement with Sauflon Pharmaceuticals.
The Manchester Evening News (September 27) reported that the contract would see Ai2's coatings being developed for use in Sauflon products, including contact lenses and cleaning solutions.
Sauflon UK sales director Bradley Wells said: 'Sauflon is delighted to secure a licensing agreement with Ai2 for adding antibacterial technologies to our lenses and solutions.
'New product development is the life blood of Sauflon and this collaboration forms one part of our research and development strategy and programmes going forward. We are very proud of the amount of new and innovative products we have brought to the market over the last few years and our healthy R&D programme promises many further innovations over the coming months and years.'
