Alcon invited guests to a launch party for its ‘stare off’ consumer campaign in London last week to promote the Dailies Total1 brand.
The contact lens firm has installed eight screens around the capital at locations including bus shelters and shopping centres.
The pilot campaign could result in a wider rollout across other cities depending on its popularity.
So far, 160,000 engagements had been made with members of the public who could win vouchers for a contact lens trial if they avoided blinking first in a staring competition with pre-loaded opponents. Practitioners have also been sent competition wall charts to set up staring contests among optical staff, with the winners eligible for a £300 shopping voucher.
