Boots Opticians has launched a new story book for children featuring interactive eye check activities to help spot if they might need support with their vision.
Zookeeper Zoe was created in partnership with the National Literacy Trust for children aged four to six in collaboration with celebrity dad, Peter Andre. The book tells the story of a little girl’s day out at the zoo during which she unexpectedly has to step in and help look after the animals.
As Zoe’s day unfolds, readers are posed questions and images built into the story, featuring an astigmatism, colour vision, duochrome and visual acuity checks.
The multiple said the book was part of its initiative to help ensure all children across the UK had access to the professional eye care support they needed and built on the success of its school screening programme launched last year.
Karl Thomas, customer director of Boots Opticians, said: ‘350,000 printed copies of Zookeeper Zoe are being given away in over 2,500 Boots UK and around 637 Boots Opticians stores and its available online and as an interactive app.’
The book was launched earlier this week at a celebrity parent event featuring model Daniele Lloyd, actress Tamzin Outhwaite and singer Stacey Solomon.
