Optifog

Celebrity chefs James Martin and Nigel Brown have given their backing to Essilor's new Optifog anti-fogging lenses. The chefs put the lenses through rigorous kitchen-based testing at the official launch at Vinopolis in London last week.

Optifog lenses were demonstrated over boiling pans and next to baking hot ovens, with James Martin particularly impressed. 'I can see the lenses being very useful in busy kitchens. Any product that improves safety of staff is worthwhile,' said Martin, despite not being a spectacle wearer.

Twenty years in the making, the manufacturer has developed a highly water-attractive lens surface, which sits on either side of the lens and turns any condensation into a thin, invisible film rather than fogging the lens. An activation solution is applied once a week to either side of the lens.
