Voting in the Association of Optometrists' Council elections is to be extended for a fortnight with letters being sent out to those members who failed to vote electronically urging them to exercise their right.
News of the extension has not been welcomed by all candidates in the elections, which are being held in the London, North West England, South West England and West Midlands and Yorkshire and The Humber and North East England regions.
Ian White, a candidate in the North West region, wrote to Optician expressing his exasperation at the move (see page 11). He said as a newcomer to the poll he realised getting elected would be an uphill struggle but said this 'shifting of the goalposts' was unacceptable.
