AOP promotes staff

David Craig, former head of communications at the Association of Optometrists (AOP), has been promoted to director of operations.

The AOP said Craig's new role would take account of the extended work he has been doing in areas such as the impact of the NICE glaucoma guideline. He retains overall responsibility for communications.

Bob Hughes, AOP chief executive, said: 'Over the last few months, David has very skilfully led our response to the NICE glaucoma guideline and has done so on behalf of the three representative bodies.'

Gerda Goldinger has become the AOP's director of legal services and Alan Lester has become its director of finance.
