APPG discusses primary eye care role

A meeting hosted by Marsha de Cordova MP discussed how funding and recognition of skills were required to support optometrists in leading patient-centred delivery of eye care. 

Industry professionals presented on the current challenges faced by NHS eye care and explored how optometrists could transform service delivery. 

Professor Leon Davies, president of the College of Optometrists and Aston University professor, was invited by the All Party Parliamentary Group to speak at the event. 

‘This was a great opportunity to showcase how optometrists can play a pivotal role in improving eye health delivery in the UK. I strongly believe that with appropriate recognition and support, optometrists can make a significant difference in patient care,’ Prof Davies said.
