Are you good with a camera?

Practitioners are invited to enter a prestigious annual photographic competition from today. And a special category has been introduced to the contest to encourage more health professionals to get involved.

Launched this week the 2004 Visions of Science photographic awards, organised by The Daily Telegraph and pharmaceutical giant Novartis, include a 'Medicine and Life' award. Sponsored by the British Medical Journal, this is for those who can illustrate disease, diagnostic techniques and current treatments for 'a wider audience'.
Organisers also suggest the winning image may show how an illness can have an impact on someone's life, illustrate scientific data or 'simply show the beauty of science in medicine'.
The winner will receive a cheque for £500 and wide exposure of their image.
The main entry categories in Visions of Science, each attracting a first prize of £1,000, include: 'close-up' images that are beyond the naked eye, 'action' images should capture a scientific process or event as it happens, and 'art' which illustrates 'the beauty of science'.
The closing date for entries is May 7.
