Asda has announced price cuts totalling £2m across its contact lens product range which it says will protect the public from having to pay exorbitant amounts for their lenses.
Customers can now buy leading brand daily disposable lenses from Asda's website from names such as Johnson & Johnson, CIBA Vision and Bausch & Lomb from £17 a month. Prices for monthly lenses including solutions start from £6 a month. Asda claims that the price changes make it the cheapest online or in store in the market.
Tito Marrero-Allen, Asda's optical buyer, said the UK had three million contact lens wearers but the prices they had to pay were simply too high. 'At ASDA we are committed to offering consumers the best possible value for money and we're confident they will be able to see clearly when it comes to rolling back the price of contact lenses. These £2m price cuts will offer customers lower prices, without compromising quality.'
