An Aston University study has unveiled an untapped market of school children with uncorrected vision deficiencies.
Almost 10 per cent of the 200 school children so far tested in a three-year Aston Eye Study needed vision correction.
The study, now in its second year, is focusing on children aged six to seven and 12 to 13, ages when myopia is most likely to develop.
Principal researcher Parth Shah said children who were not seeing well did not necessarily complain of blurred vision.
'Unidentified visual problems can have serious detrimental effects on children at school,' he added.
