Powerful magnets keep Awesome clip-ons in place. In the One-series and Two-series collections, the magnets fasten the sun clips vertically on to the hinge, ensuring a snug and secure positioning on the frame.
The clips-ons are available with different coloured lenses. There are polarised smoke lenses in some models, and a contrast filter version for driving is available as a spare clip.
The third collection is the M-series, which are rimless with a front-fixing sun clip, and the latest collection is the E-clipse range (pictured), a line of acetate and rimless frames which come with polarised visor-styled clips, which magnetically attach to the front.
The driving-contrast clips have an anti-reflective coating on the back surface and most frames have spring hinges.
The clip itself can be magnetically attached to its own holding device, which allows the wearer to secure it in a pocket like a pen.
Shabeer Dawood and Solly Deedat, who have a practice in Paddington, London, are both directors of the eyewear company, Dynamic Holding Group, established eight years ago in South Africa. The company owns the Awesome trademark and patents, and designs, makes and distributes Polo eyewear and accessories in southern Africa, where it is also the distributor for Cartier.
Mr Dawood says he plans to have a number of select accounts in the UK and Ireland and to formulate close working relationships with upmarket independents and small multiples that wish to differentiate themselves from the mass market.
