There has been an unprecedented demand for the Federation of Manufacturing Opticians' (FMO) 'Bad Payers' register, the trade body has reported.

Published under licence from the Office of Fair Trading and produced by FMO members, the list highlights accounts which are not working in the best interests of the overall optical industry, according to the FMO. Updated every month, the register includes County Court judgements applied for and County Court judgements awarded against listed businesses.

'It is a very useful free resource (to FMO members) which protects the profession's suppliers from the deliberately dishonest,' said Malcolm Polley, chief executive of the FMO.
