Barry Smith has retired from the Haine and Smith optical group after working in optics for 40 years.

Smith founded the partnership in 1975 with Sue Haine with practices in Westbury and Marlborough. The group launched its 20th practice in 2017.

Over the past 40 years, Smith has been an advisor to the General Optical Council, an examiner for the Association of British Dispensing Opticians and a chairman of the Federation of Ophthalmic and Dispensing Opticians.

Manager Angela Davey will be taking over Smith’s role as managing partner.

Partner Gary Walters said: ‘All Haine and Smith staff join me in wishing Barry well on his retirement to the Scottish Highlands.’
