Members of the British Contact Lens Association (BCLA) have been given until April 14 to submit their applications for its fellowship scheme.
It said since launching in 2006, 165 members of the global contact lens community had become fellows following viva voce assessment at the BCLA Clinical Conference and Exhibition.
The scheme was open to full BCLA members of all disciplines – including those working within industry – allowing successful candidates to use the affix FBCLA, a statement said.
Professor James Wolffsohn, BCLA fellowship consultant, said: ‘The BCLA fellowship scheme allows members of the contact lens community at home and abroad the chance to demonstrate high esteem in the field of contact lenses and the anterior eye. It demonstrates to both patients and peers that they have taken their commitment to the field one step further. We look forward to welcoming a new cohort of BCLA fellows in Birmingham this June.’
