Introduced in 2006, Fellowship allows members who have shown commitment and high esteem in contact lenses and the anterior eye to use the affix FBCLA. All BCLA members are eligible to apply.

For practitioners, the simplest step towards becoming a Fellow is to submit case records of advanced contact lens fits or management of an anterior eye condition. Delivering a paper, poster or workshop at the BCLA Clinical Conference also counts, as do postgraduate qualifications and the ABDO honours diploma in contact lenses.

Each case record contributes 10 points towards the 50 required to apply for Fellowship. Examples of accepted case records can be found on the BCLA website, along with full details of the scheme and an application form.
