Research published by the College of Optometrists has found UK workers in the health, beauty and wellbeing industry suffered on average, five incidents of eye problems or injuries in the workplace - the most of all the industry groups surveyed.
Medical professionals were found to suffer four injuries at work during their careers, mainly due to foreign objects in the eye, while manual labourers were most likely to suffer from scratched eye. Of those who said they would seek help in the event of any eye problem, 59 per cent of UK workers said they would seek advice from a GP or pharmacist, but only one in five said they would visit an optometrist for help.
