Baker's Instrument Brokers (BIB), based in St Albans, was launched this month by Tim Baker, former sales director with Young Optical. The firm claims to dispense with the time and hassle associated with buying and selling second-hand equipment by offering to collect, clean, calibrate and service any equipment sold nationwide. 'I believe the service BIB offers is unique,' said Mr Baker. 'The company is the first of its kind anywhere in the world. It is a one-stop solution for practitioners wishing to buy or sell ophthalmic equipment now or in the near future.' Buyers and sellers can register free with BIB. Once registered, the information will be matched on BIB's database which contains the details of other practitioners asking to buy or sell equipment across the UK. When a suitable match has been made the instruments are collected and delivered by BIB. The only contact the practitioner will need to make is with BIB.
