A single-use tool for meibomian gland dredging has been launched by BiB Ophthalmic Instruments that was designed to minimise the risk of cross infection.
Developed by Gaush Precision, the compact dredging plate is made from soft medical grade rubber.
It was said to offer an alternative to traditional methods, which used metal or glass rods that could cause discomfort and pain for patients.
It features a simple press rod design that facilitates a soft pressing action and enabled the operator to control the amount of squeezing force.
BiB said this helped achieve controlled pressure and the ideal dredging effect.
