CooperVision has added a new monthly replacement multifocal contact lens in its fastest growing line, Biofinity, that aims to provide comfort and excellent vision for the growing number of presbyopes.
The company said the multifocal silicone hydrogel (SiH) lens made fittings more successful and lenses more comfortable, according to clinical research and practitioner feedback. Biofinity multifocals feature Aquaform Comfort Science, utilising longer siloxane chains, with less silicone incorporated into the lens. This gave a lower modulus and a softer, more flexible lens, while also contributing to high oxygen permeability, it said.
The company worked closely with practitioners to develop a new stream-lined fitting process its Balanced Progressive Technology approach. 'The new fitting process will make the results much more predictable, reducing chair time for my practice and helping enhance the patient experience,' said Philip Smith of City Opticians in London's Holborn.
